Introduction to the Health Tourism Sector

Definition of International Patient Department: IPD

International Patient Department (IPD): A unit in a hospital whose duty is to establish the necessary coordination to provide diagnostic and treatment services to foreign patients.

International Patient: A foreigner who has visited a hospital to receive diagnostic and treatment services.

Medical tourism or health tourism is a trip to another country for the purpose of treatment. The reasons for this type of tourism are the lack of similar treatment methods, high costs, and the lack of advanced treatment technologies in the country of origin. On the other hand, due to the reasonable medical tariffs in Iran compared to other countries in the region and the provision of international quality medical and nursing services, a large number of patients are willing to travel to Iran to receive medical services, and this has made our beloved country one of the health tourism hubs in the region.

At Shahid Ayatollah Ashrafi Khomeini Hospital, the IPD doctor is responsible for following up on all medical services related to the hospitalized patient through the International Patients Department. In order to provide faster and better quality services to patients admitted through the International Patients Department, services are also provided outside the usual schedule.

This hospital attracts foreign patients through various advertising methods, the most important of which is advertising on the type and quality of services provided in the fields of cosmetic surgery, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, and urology.

In this center, there are 2 rooms equipped with a variety of appropriate services and amenities, including: television, table, chair, furniture, refrigerator, appropriate decoration, telephone, internet, and personal equipment packages, in the surgical and neurology departments, to provide services to international patients.

Services that can be provided to international patients:

Out-of-hours services: Providing services outside the usual schedule in order to provide faster and better quality services to patients admitted through the International Patients Department.
